Two conversion modes are provided to customers for upgrading from SAP BPCNW 10.1 to BPC 11.0:
- In-place conversion
- Remote conversion
BPC 10.1 on NW 740/750 and BPC 10.0 on NW 730/740 standard environment is now the only source system that could be supported to be converted to BPC 11.0 via remote conversion.
The steps below describe the remote conversion mode only.
BPC 10.1 on NW 740/750 and BPC 10.0 on NW 730/740 standard environment is now the only source system that could be supported to be converted to BPC 11.0 via remote conversion.
Before you start the remote conversion, please upgrade the target system to the latest support package. The lowest support package on your target BPC 11.0 system is SP01. In BPC 11.0, the concept of HANA optimisation parameter is changed, thus the following notes also need to be applied beforehand.
- 2505668 – New concept of HANA optimisation parameter
- 2501622 – Cannot connect to the specific model (configured ENABLE_HANA_MDX) via ODBO provider or AO plug-in
Remote conversion for BPC 10.1 and BPC 10.0 Standard Environment use backup & restore (UJBR) + Migration solution. In BPC 11.0 SP01, the migration programme “UJT_MIGRATE_101_TO_BPC4” has already integrated into the UJBR function, which means in BPC 11.0 SP01 the data migration will be executed automatically when you execute UJBR restore function.
Follow the steps below to perform the conversion:
- Install SAP BW/4HANA and Business Planning and Consolidation, version for SAP BW/4HANA. Make sure you install version SP01 or higher.
- Customise the system based on 10.1 requirements, for example, the RFC destination and service user BPC_SERVICE. You can do this by following the post-installation steps that apply to a standard configuration of Business Planning and Consolidation as described in the Installation Guide.
- Back up the environment on the 10.1 production system with the Backup and Restore tool using transaction UJBR.
- Restore the environment on the new BW/4HANA version system with the Backup and Restore tool using transaction UJBR.
